Dr Geoff Wong is a Cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist with a clinical focus in the management of heart rhythm disorders and inherited arrhythmia syndromes. Geoff graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2007 and underwent physician and cardiology training at the Austin, Northern and Royal Adelaide Hospitals. Subsequently, he completed a clinical fellowship and PhD at the Royal Melbourne Hospital under the supervision of world-renowned Professor Jon Kalman, investigating the genetics of atrial arrhythmias. Geoff has also
trained extensively overseas in electrophysiology at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in London UK, the largest heart hospital in Europe.

He performs cryoablation and radiofrequency ablation procedures of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, pacemakers, CRT and defibrillator devices (transvenous and subcutaneous).

Geoff is widely published and has co-authored 40 articles in high impact journals including New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of American College of Cardiology and Circulation: Arrhythmia & Electrophysiology. During his PhD, he was funded by the NHMRC and is currently a Heart Foundation Post-doctoral Scholar. His research has been recognised as a finalist in both local and international scientific conferences including the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand Ralph Reader Prize and the 2019 Samuel Levine Young Investigator Award at the American Heart Association. He is also the winner of the 2020 Heart Rhythm Prize at the Cardiac Society Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand meeting for his novel work on gender based differences in atrial fibrillation.

Geoff is passionate about advancing patient care through his clinical work and research.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys running, cycling and basketball.

Geoff currently holds staff specialist appointments at Austin Health and the Northern Hospital.
